Overview

Lake Mburo National Park, located in southwestern Uganda, is a compact but stunning gem known for its diverse wildlife, picturesque landscapes, and tranquil ambiance. Covering approximately 370 square kilometers, the park is centered around Lake Mburo and its five smaller lakes, which are surrounded by rolling hills, open savannahs, acacia woodlands, and wetlands. This unique blend of habitats supports a wide variety of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, and hippos, alongside over 350 bird species such as the rare African finfoot, papyrus gonolek, and white-backed night heron. Notably, Lake Mburo National Park is one of the few places in Uganda where visitors can see zebras and impalas.

Activities in the park include guided game drives, boat safaris on Lake Mburo, and walking safaris, offering an up-close perspective of its natural beauty. The park also features cycling safaris and horseback riding, making it one of the few parks in East Africa to offer such unique experiences. Its proximity to Kampala, just a four-hour drive, makes it a perfect getaway for both short excursions and extended adventures.
